And Raf (Andy Pessoa), the boy genius, is a bit of a cliche. They definitely feel like they are the supporting characters to the Autobots and not vice versa at least (there are episodes the human characters barely appear in), but there are also certainly times when Miko (voiced by Tania Gunadi) in particular can grate, with her overly enthusiastic, overly spunky, mannered personality. The three kids the Autobots team with are a mixed bag. While humans are still present (more on that below), the robots are the stars of this series, with most episodes and storylines focusing on them, and building them into fully formed, relatable characters in a way the films never have. The Fringe creators/Star Trek writers wrote the first two Transformers films, but in many ways, Prime feels like the Transformers project they'd rather have made from the start. Transformers Prime's executive producers include Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. With the the aid of three newfound young allies, the Autobots find themselves in a new war against their enemies. A period of relative peace doesn't last, as the Decepticons return, using "Dark Energon" for some very nefarious, unsettling purposes. With the backstory of the Transformers well known at this point, Prime wisely jumps right in with a small, core group of Autobots already living on Earth. But guess what? The current Transformers animated series is a standout, taking the over a quarter of a century history of the franchise and blending different aspects along with brand new elements to make for a very satisfying new iteration of the Robots in Disguise - one that ultimately could become the best Transformers series yet. Add in many different comic book iterations and a hugely successful movie trilogy (with more films on the way) and you have a whole lot of different versions that pre-date Transformers Prime. Including several Japanese-only shows, there have been over a dozen Transformers animated series at this point.
